Lake Eildon Holiday houseboats

Lake Eildon things to do on your holiday

To learn more about the incredible history of Lake Eildon, check out our history page.

Alexandra Timber Tramway

Another great option is the Alexandra Timber Tramway at the old railway station. It's a great break for the kids. They offer historical displays, wood working demonstrations and Steam or Diesel operated trains, they do not open every day or even every weekend so make sure you check before you promise the kids anything this holiday.

Water Relaxation and Fun

You can always just kickback and light up the barbie, sink a few coldies and relax on your holiday. Maybe go for a jetski or dangle from the back of the houseboat for a while on a tube.

Peppercorn Restaurant

Check out The Peppercorn Restaurant, housed in an old pub just one block back from the main street all the locals unanimously agree that Peppercorn offers the best meal in town. It's your holiday so why not.

Breakfast at "Marmalades" in our opinion is the best country style breakfast and coffee this side of Melbourne. Offering goodies such as locally made art and craft, preserves and chutneys, this quaint cafe is also the cellar door for Muddy Creek Vineyard and home to the local tourism information centre. Our Houseboat holiday customers receive a special breakfast deal at Marmalades.

Rubicon Vallley Horse Riding

You could always explore the beautiful lake Eildon region countryside on horseback. Rubicon Valley Horse Riding is a short drive from Thornton on the way from Buxton and have access to one of the districts most noted properties, this award winning experience is usually about two hours but can be tailored to suit rides for all levels of expertise including full day or overnight options.

Snobs Creek Estate Winery

The Snobs Creek Estate Winery is also an easy stop over for that last couple of bottles before you head for the houseboat.
